AHC UK VIRTUAL FAMILY MEETING (SAT 15TH MAY 2021 at 0930)
Following on from our recent exciting announcement of the AHC UK Family meeting on Saturday 15th May 2021 we are including the links via Eventbrite here for families and individuals to register. The Saturday daytime Family meeting will start at 10am with registration online from 9.30am onwards (to overcome any technical issues in the virtual world).

The day will start with a morning of talks on AHC by clinicians and researchers aimed specifically at AHC families and friends. There will be an opportunity to ask speakers’ questions, but we also encourage people to send in questions in advance for our panel discussion. We are keen to know what you would like to ask the AHC clinicians and researchers. There will be a break over lunch and the afternoon session will re-start with a chance to meet the AHC UK committee, hear the work they have been doing and will be doing alongside an opportunity for the committee to hear what matters to you as families and how we can support you more in your journey with AHC.

This will be followed by a wonderful virtual music session by a professional music teacher. We hope this will be a great event for parents, AHC children and adults as well as siblings and friends.

Access to the event will be via MS teams and a link will be sent to the email you register with on Eventbrite. To register for the AHC UK Family meeting (morning and afternoon sessions) on 15th May 2021 please link the Eventbrite link

We welcome all families across the UK, but also extend the invitation to anyone in our AHC community internationally who would like to join in this virtual family daytime event. On the Eventbrite link there is an option for receiving sunflower seeds to any families who would like to plant in your own time and share photos (if you wish) as they grow over this year with the hashtag #AHCawareness. (Due to difficulties in sending, unfortunately these are only available to UK residents. However, those living in other countries are still very welcome to join the day’s activities)

We’d also really love to hear your questions – both for the specialists who will be talking about AHC, and for us as Committee members.

Please email these to support@ahcuk.org
AHC UK VIRTUAL PUB QUIZ FUNDRAISER (SAT 15TH MAY 2021 at 2000)
Saturday 15th May 8pm Virtual Pub Quiz

We hope you will re-join us at 8pm on the evening of Saturday 15th May for an exciting virtual pub quiz! Please share this with friends and family and encourage them to attend- they are very welcome, and their support will help to make this a fun and successful event. If you need any further motivation, you might like to know that there will be three fabulous prizes for our top competitors! (Due to difficulties in sending, unfortunately these prizes are only open to UK residents. However, those living in other countries are still very welcome to join in with the quiz!)

This event will be a fundraiser, with all proceeds being donated to the AHC and ATP1A3 Diseases Natural History Study. As many of you will be aware, this is an important research project led by Dr Katerina Vezyroglou at Great Ormond Street. It aims to collect and collate data about AHC children and adults and identify patterns in order to improve life for those with AHC.

The suggested voluntary donation is £5 per person, but if you are unable to donate this we welcome whatever you can contribute. We also greatly value your support in helping us to promote this event. If you would like to donate more, we would of course be delighted! Please register for the quiz via this Eventbrite link, so that we can send you details on how to join the quiz. The link to make your donation to the Young Epilepsy and AHC UK collaboration supporting the AHC and ATP1A3 diseases natural history study is at the end of the Eventbrite registration.

We thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you for the event.

With best wishes,

Lyndsey Chand (AHC UK Secretary) & Katherine Behl (AHC UK Research Liaison and Vice-Chair)
